INDIANAPOLIS – Leaders in the defense development sector will hold the inaugural Midwest Defense Innovation Summit virtually on October 21, 2020. The first-ever summit will bring together organizations including industry, government and academia which are developing innovative technologies with policymakers and defense leaders who are helping steer the nation’s defense strategy.
The summit’s organizing committee is a consortium of organizations, including the IN3 (Indiana Innovation Institute), Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, National Security Technology Accelerator (NSTXL), Radius Indiana, and the National Security Innovation Network.
“The Midwest’s defense and technology industries have shown exponential growth and this summit aims to showcase and build on this success,” said Stephen E. Kelly, president and CEO of IN3. “By bringing together innovators and leaders from every facet of the sector, this summit will be a launching pad for a new era of defense technology development.”
Defense research, development and innovation are top national priorities.
“It is no coincidence that this inaugural regional event will be held in Indiana – a state that has a rich tradition in developing innovative tools for our nation’s warfighters,” said Brooke Pyne, S2MARTS director, National Security Technology Accelerator. “As the challenges and threats facing our military at home and abroad change, Indiana wants to remain at the tip of the spear.”
The summit will be held virtually on October 21. It will be open to those who register for the event. Summit sessions – including panel participants and speakers will be announced in the coming weeks. Invited speakers include state leaders from across the Midwest, representatives from federal agencies, members of Congress and members of the United States Military.
