IN3 Names VP for Microelectronics

Bloomington, Ind. (May 24, 2021) – IN3, which works with academia, industry, and government to create a hub of national security innovation that helps solve critical defense priorities, has named a new Vice President for Microelectronics.

Gail Walters comes to IN3 with extensive microelectronics experience in engineering, technical management, program management and consulting for the U.S. government and private industry. Most recently she was a microelectronics subject matter expert for the Intelligence Advanced Research Programs Activity (IARPA), which is within the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.  

She has designed or led design teams on more than 200 microchips for commercial and defense applications. Chips she has designed can be found in F-14s, Bradley Fighting Vehicles and numerous other critical platforms. Walters has successfully executed and led numerous microelectronics research and development programs for government, commercial and defense contractor customers.

In addition to her design expertise, Walters has held corporate and senior technical positions in large and small high-tech hardware companies and also has served as an individual contributor. Among her roles were chief scientist, chief business officer, chief operating officer, executive vice president, vice president of operations and vice president of engineering.  

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Purdue University and a Master’s of Science in Physics from Indiana University.
