Bloomington, Ind. (March 15, 2021) – IN3, which works with academia, industry, and government to create a hub of national security innovation that helps solve critical defense priorities, is once again expanding its team of experts. Joining the team are the following:
David Beering, VP of Hypersonics
David Beering serves as Vice President of Hypersonics for IN3. He is passionate about employing space systems to further U.S. economic and national security interests. In addition to his work with IN3, Beering is owner of Intelligent Designs LLC and co-founder of Continuous Satellite Data LLC, tech companies focused on delivering innovative solutions to the satellite industry.
During his career, he has held leading roles on more than 85 projects for organizations including US Naval Research Laboratory, US Army, Missile Defense Agency, Airbus Defense & Space, Lockheed Martin and more.
Since 2008, Beering has been engaged in delivering satellite communications solutions supporting Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) for Counter-Improved Explosive Device (CIED) activities for the US Central Command. He has traveled to the Middle East on 37 separate occasions since 2010, supporting three Department of Defense commands on three separate CIED ISR programs.
Beering earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer engineering from Purdue University. In 2012, he received the Outstanding Electrical and Computer Engineer award from his alma mater. Beering also serves as the Chairman of the Board for the Indiana Society of Chicago.
Joe Kobsar, Chief of Systems Engineering
Joe Kobsar serves as Chief of Systems Engineering for IN3. Prior to joining IN3 he served as Director of Applied Cyber Technologies employed by the US Army at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. Kobsar was an expert in defensive cyber techniques and implementation of state-of-the-art research and development methodologies.
Kobsar has also served as a Senior Cyber Electronics Engineer at the Aberdeen Proving Ground providing engineering, technical and programmatic oversight for the Army’s Cyber Security and Information Assurance mission.
He is versed in military system engineering analysis and has held numerous senior technology positions in the field of information security, technology evaluation, acquisition and procurement.
Kobsar holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from University of Maryland and earned a master’s degree in Acquisition Project Management from Naval Postgraduate School.
David (Dave) J. Angeletti, Director of Ecosystems
David (Dave) Angeletti serves as Director of Ecosystems for IN3. Prior to joining IN3, he served as Senior Director, Business Development for Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC). At CTC, he was successful in positioning congressional programs through the National Defense Appropriations Act for FY21 and generating more than a $330 million pipeline of contracts with the Air Force Research Laboratory.
Angeletti is familiar with both the processes and decision makers in various government acquisition programs including over 10 years working with Other Transaction Authority agreements and various Department of Defense consortia. He has a successful track record in business development and program management positions for companies working in the defense and government services industries.
Angeletti is a member of the Air Force Association (AFA), Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association (AFCEA), Association of the United States Army (AUSA), Dayton Defense Contractor’s Association, National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) and is a founding member of the Artificial Intelligence in Metals and Manufacturing Consortium.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Pittsburgh.
Samuel (Sam) Caccamo, Director of Systems Integration
Samuel (Sam) Caccamo serves as Director of Systems Integration for IN3 and comes to the organization with 22 years of active military duty and 12 years of U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) contracting experience. Prior to joining IN3, Caccamo served as Chief Technologist, Senior Associate with Booz Allen Hamilton supporting anti-tamper and technology protection programs for the Department of the Navy. In that role, Caccamo was responsible for developing technical partnerships with the nation’s leading Technology Protection/Anti-Tamper capability providers, linking them to the Department of Navy’s Anti-Tamper Technical coordinator as well as with academic institutions in Indiana, including Purdue University and Indiana University.
Caccamo developed and led the HackIN hardware/firmware reverse engineering cybersecurity hackathons in 2019 and 2020. Both HackIN events brought together some of the nation’s most promising engineering and material sciences talent to solve real world technical challenges and assist in workforce development for NSWC Crane.
Caccamo has extensive experience in providing executive level operational planning, including Information Operations (IO) planning, most recently at the Navy Warfare Development Command in Norfolk, Virginia, USAFRICA Command and the former Joint Forces Command where Caccamo played key roles in campaign plan development and execution. Caccamo was the IO planning lead for the Chief Naval Officer’s Electro-magnetic Maneuver Warfare Campaign Plan which provided direction and an assessment framework for Navy Electro Magnetic Spectrum Operations. Caccamo also served as an Executive Advisor to the J3 for Cyber Operations US AFRICOM, Senior Advisor to the J39 IO Division USAFRICOM in Stuttgart, Germany. He led the Congressionally mandated Combatant Command IO assessments for all IO related activities in the USAFRICOM Area of Responsibility.
In addition, Caccamo served 22 years as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army in various operational assignments as a certified Joint, Army and NATO IO planner. His assignments included Key IO planning positions on the Army Staff, Combined Forces Command, Korea, and Eighth US Army Operations Directorate, Yongsan, Korea. Caccamo completed 22 years of commissioned military service in 2008, where he served as a graduate level certified Joint Professional Military Development and IO instructor at the Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Virginia.
